Original Items: One Set Only. An iconic piece of gear from the Vietnam War was the M-68 Claymore Mine. The M68 kit was designed to familiarize personnel with the placement and arming of a real M18 Claymore directional mine. It comes with all the components of a real Claymore kit packed in an M7 bandoleer. The plastic M33 Inert AP Mine is the inert training and practice version of the M18 Claymore. Some inert mines were green with a light blue band, while others were completely blue, such as this example. It does not contain an explosive or pyrotechnic filler of any kind.
It is packed in a Claymore bag with inert M10 simulated detonator cap wire with connectors, an M57 "clacker" firing control, and one M40 circuit test kits.

This example is in excellent condition, and shows the typical sign of use, just some oxidation on the metal components from decades of storage. The mine itself is cast blue plastic and the reverse of the mine reads PRACTICE BACK M-33 APERS MINE. It still retains the original fold out support legs as well as the wire connectors. There are no cracks or other damage to the plastic, just some light scuffing.

The M57 clacker appears to function as expected, and the blasting cap and wire are complete and actually functional!

The carrying bag is in good condition, but the original interior instruction label is torn away, with only small remnants left behind. The bag shows only light wear with a bit of tearing, stains, and some writing on the exterior.

Overall a very nice complete set of a rare and essential Vietnam Era training set, in very good functional condition!

History of the M-18 Claymore:
The M18 Claymore is a directional anti-personnel mine used by the U.S. military. It was named after the large Scottish sword by its inventor; Norman A. MacLeod. Unlike a conventional land mine, the Claymore is command-detonated and directional, meaning it is fired by remote-control, or trip wire, shooting a pattern of metal balls into the kill zone like a shotgun. The Claymore fires steel balls out to about 100 meters within a 60° arc in front of the device. It is used primarily in ambushes and as an anti-infiltration device against enemy infantry; just perfect to place on a desktop to keep unwanted visitors out of your office.
